Thank you to Sault Mayor and Council

CAPT and NEORN very much appreciate the support shown last evening by Mayor Provenzano and the Sault Councilors for efforts to secure federal funding for the Mask-wa Oo-ta-ban (Bear Train) between SSM and Hearst. A resolution of support was passed and will be sent to Minister Marc Garneau, PM Justin Trudeau, MP Terry Sheehan and MP Carol Hughes.  They will also write a letter to the Ontario Government in support of restoring passenger train service from the Sault to Toronto.  Here is an article by Elaine Della-Mattia, Sault Star, about this:

Presentation to SSM City Council–Monday January 22 at 4:30 pm

 

Please plan to attend the SSM city council meeting on Monday, January 22 at 4:30 pm when CAPT will be making a presentation to City Council about the need for their ongoing support to have Transport Canada fund the Bear Train between the Sault and Hearst.

Note:The presentation will also include efforts to have passenger rail service reinstated on the existing rail beds from the Sault to North Bay and from Toronto to North Bay, Cochrane and Hearst to connect with the Bear Train from Hearst to the Sault.
